Cheapest Diesel in Down - Tesco Extra

You could be forgiven for driving past this Tesco Extra as you head through Newry towards Belfast because it is set back ever so slightly on the road that it is hidden; you are upon it before you realise. Luckily, if you do miss the first entrance, a second is only some 30 yards or so further on. No need to slam the brakes on and cause an accident! There is great parking for the able bodied and parents with children. However, there is one row of parking spaces for disabled drivers, and another row for disabled drivers a long way from the shop's entrance; quite incredulous!!

Easily accessible store with a good variety of Clothes and food stuff with helpful and knowledgeable staff.

Great place to shop parking is free and you don't need to go near the town centre to get to it.

I went yesterday morning put my pound in the trolley took it out the front wheels were rusted and wouldn't move had to drag it back in to get my pound back tried the next row of trolleys same thing happened. Went in did my shopping went to checkout only 2 staff on with a big queue then finally get served I had to move my groceries to the next till as the one I was using was broke

Nice Tesco Extra. Great selection of produce and plenty of parking. Only grip is it only opens at 1pm on Sundays.

Why when I phone prior to going to store cannot I no get any response about whether you have any working mobility scooters Very poor telephone responses Nothing about the facilities in store.

Got here early to get a couple weeks worth of groceries. Go to checkout and they won't open a lane so I'm forced to use self checkout with a full cart. After about 5 minutes of scanning errors I just left the cart there and told them have fun putting it all back. The complete lack of courtesy and customer service is blood boiling. I will not be back.

Arrive early to do the weekly shopping beat the rush only to find no manned tills open. The level of frustration to use the self service check out with a weeks worth of shopping would test anyone.

Love is a strong word, but it has all the essential items and a good range. Prices are good and lower shelf items are just as good as any other ie lidl. Beer selection is the best in town and vant beat 3 bombers for 5.50 deal 👌

Arrived on Sunday 10 minutes before closing time where a staff member and a security guard were turning people away. People were still coming out of the store so I ran over to go in, planning to be no more than a minute at most when these two staff members greeted myself and another potential customer very bluntly to explain they were closed. I tried to explain that I needed a singular item, I knew exactly where to go for it and they declined me absolutely, explaining that “everyone is at checkouts” how he knew this standing down a flight of stairs when people with entire shopping carts were still exiting I’ve no idea. I’m not naive, I understand staff want to get away early but when they’re shutting early and greeting people so rudely then frankly, I’ve no sympathy. I frequently stay behind a few extra minutes if a customer needs help in my own job, I’d generally expect anyone, especially those representing such a significant organisation would take a semblance of responsibility, especially if they’re closing early. First time coming to this Tesco, really have no intention of returning if that’s how staff behave because they’re on the last 10 minutes of shift.

went here tue25 april got some beer tried to use club card wont work in nj from south i asked another customer could she use her club card she said no problem glad to help but check out girl at till would not agree for me to do this i stood my ground and stated i have got permission from manager of store she backed down she was totally extra rude unfriendly and anti southern ireland total bigot i reported her to manager the manager said she would deel with her better service in sainsburys i wont go back here the staff need training in customer service after all customers pay there wages no customers no wages

Large store with surprisingly poor selection of goods. For Irish people popping over the border, not a good choice since Tesco recently upped all their prices to above average unless you have a Tesco clubcard, which then brings the price down to average or just below. (No real bargains to be had, but you'll get fleeced without one.) And no, Irish clubcards don't work here. You'd need an NI address to get one which works here.

Staff wasnt friendly at all,forgot tesco club card,try to log in and cant do it,from the staff feel like im cheating who try to get everything for free,when ask for another customer to pass clubcard,staff was very disappointed,women was trained at lowest level.

Very busy today, there was a snake queue just to be directed to a till.

Staff here are always very rude, especially at the self scan. They never remove tags unless I ask them and when I do they make me feel like I’m stealing something, asking for a receipt rudely. I was buying cigarettes at the kiosk once and the girl serving me looked me up and down made me feel like I shouldn’t be there. Worst customer service out of all the shops in Newry by far. My mum has also had the same experiences and people I know also.

Generally has everything you need from a great supermarket including clothes, back to school supplies, books, cards, etc. However there are major renovations going on just now so the shelves are empty in some aisles while they reorganise the store. It will be fantastic when works are complete. The staff here are so friendly and always very helpful.
